Rupert Burleigh was a pupil of Hamish Milne and Geoffrey Pratley at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and then of Prof. David Wilde at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hannover, Germany.
He became Solo Repetiteur at the Hessen State Opera, Wiesbaden, Germany in 1996 was Head of Music at the Cologne Opera from 2001 to 2010 and of the Hamburg State Opera from 2010 to 2026. In 2026 he was appointed Director of Music AdministraJon at the Metropolitan Opera New York.
