Lynn Baker

Lynn Baker is a vocal coach, English diction specialist and collaborative pianist.  She is a coach and casting consultant for vocal works at New York City Ballet as well as English diction coach and adjunct faculty at The New School. Since 2017, she has been the English diction coach for multiple operatic productions at Opera Philadelphia and the Curtis Institute of Music.  She was Artistic Director of Crested Butte Opera Studio from 2012-2018 and was an assistant conductor and English diction coach at the original company of New York City Opera, where she also coached for the company’s annual workshop, VOX:  Showcasing American Opera.  Her recording credits include Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Marin Alsop, Music Director (Naxos) and with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Music Director (Deutsche Grammophon).  Other coaching and performing credits feature Lincoln Center Theater, Seattle Opera, Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute, Berkshire Opera Festival, Atlanta Opera, Washington National Opera, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Bard Summerscape Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Juilliard Opera Center.  She is an Associate Editor for Transcriptions at the International Dialects of English Archive (www.dialectsarchive.com).   Ms. Baker is a frequent vocal recital pianist and an avid performer of contemporary opera and art song.  She has performed in recital at The White House East Room, The Morgan Library Gilder Lehrman Hall, John F. Kennedy Center Terrace Theater and United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Auditorium.
